This Privacy Policy describes how AI Website Analyzer (“the Extension,” “we,” “our”) handles information when you use our Chrome browser extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy. The Extension is designed to run entirely on your device and does not send your data to our servers or any third-party analytics or advertising services.

Information the Extension Accesses
When you click the Extension icon and run an analysis on the current tab, the Extension may read the following from that page to produce its report:
- Website content and metadata — page title, meta description, canonical URL, heading structure, image alt usage, Open Graph tags, viewport and robots meta tags, and similar public page information.
- Technical signals — script URLs, detected frameworks or libraries, and performance resource timing (e.g. resource names, sizes, and load duration).
- Security-related HTTP response headers — such as Content-Security-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security, X-Frame-Options, and X-Content-Type-Options for the page you are analyzing.
- Accessibility-related page structure — such as HTML
langattribute, presence of skip links, unlabeled form controls, and heading order. - Page URL — the address of the tab you are analyzing.
This information is used only to display scores, recommendations, and export options inside the Extension. It is not transmitted to us or to external servers as part of normal Extension operation.
Information Stored on Your Device
The Extension uses Chrome’s local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device to save:
- Theme preference — light or dark mode.
- Recent analysis history — up to the last 10 analyses, including URL, page title, overall score, and analysis date. This history stays on your device and is not uploaded.
The background service worker may temporarily hold HTTP response headers in memory for the current browsing session to support security analysis. This data is not persisted long-term on our servers because we do not operate servers that receive this data.
Information You Choose to Export
If you use Copy report or Download JSON, the Extension places analysis results on your clipboard or saves a file on your device. You control where that information goes after export. We do not receive copies of exported reports.
What We Do Not Collect
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, phone number, government ID).
- Authentication credentials, passwords, or payment information.
- Health, financial, or personal communication content.
- Your full browsing history — the Extension does not read or store a list of all sites you visit. It only analyzes the page in the active tab when you open the Extension and run analysis.
- Keystrokes, mouse movements, scroll behavior, or other user activity monitoring.
Permissions and Why They Are Used
- activeTab — to analyze the website in the tab you are currently viewing when you open the Extension.
- scripting — to read page-level technical and performance data required for analysis in a way that respects strict site security policies.
- storage — to save your theme preference and recent analysis history locally on your device.
- webRequest — to read HTTP response headers for security checks on the page you are analyzing.
- Host permission (<all_urls>) — so the Extension can run on websites you choose to analyze. The Extension does not run analysis until you open it on a tab.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or cloud backends that receive your analysis data.
Google Chrome may process extension installation and update data according to Google’s Privacy Policy when you install or use extensions from the Chrome Web Store. That processing is governed by Google, not by this Extension.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Local theme and history data remains on your device until you clear Extension storage, uninstall the Extension, or clear browser data for extensions.
- Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored Extension data from your browser.
- We do not retain copies of your analysis data on our servers.
Children’s Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Users
Because processing occurs locally in your browser and we do not operate servers that receive your analysis data, your information generally does not leave your device except when you choose to export or share it yourself.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are made. Continued use of the Extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
